Zurgena Mayor Arrested

The situation in Zurgena took a dramatic turn yesterday with armed police raiding the offices of  local developers Procosona Almeria Estates, Dizu and New Horizon Villas. As yet we are awaiting confirmation of the identities of the two senior managers arrested in yesterdays operation. All those arrested can be held for upto 72 hrs without charge. The police would not allow photographs to be taken or interviews to be held with representitives from these companies. The large crowd that gathered outside the Procosona Almeria Estates offices in Albox yesterday witnessed the removal of sackfulls of documentation and electonic data whilst similar events were taking place at the offices of New Horizon Villas and Dizu in Zurgena.

BBC Decline Invitation to Speak With Mayor and Junta

With no response from the BBC the LVDA committee contacted Emily Stein (BBC representative, The Truth About Property) directly on her mobile telephone. We were disappointed to learn that she did not consider meeting the Mayor and a member of the Junta de Andalucia as relevant to her story. When pressed she stated that she was only interested in personal problematic stories for her program. Emily stated that she was more interested in the houses that are in the path of the new high-speed train link and that the “Beeb” will only be in Spain for 2 days.
